Take It To Night! by lamodemoderne
You woke up this morning just planning to go to work, maybe run some errands, and head home. But surprise! Your s/o calls and wants to take you out, or your friends feel like tonight's the night for drinks at the bar. You've gotta go home, change, and you might also want to spice up your makeup for a night out. I feel you. One of my amazing readers on Tumblr asked me to help her out with this. And let me tell you, the solution is SO easy! Let's get started, babes.
Right now, let's assume you've got on your bare minimum, I'm-Awake-But-Barely look going on. Because 9 times out of a solid 10, that's my look. Foundation, mascara, maybe a little eyeliner. Have no fear! That's a great place to start. I'm going to go over some of my favorite products to turn my daytime look into nighttime glam.
First, I add some falsies. But I skip to glue and the hassle and reach for a new product I just started loving from Physician's Formula. It's a part of my latest beauty haul and I am obsessed. It's the Eye Booster Instant Lash Extensions Kit! I'll coat my lashes with the included mascara (which is incredible on it's own, actually), then, keeping my fingers under my eye to catch the fallout fibers, I'll coat my still wet eyelashes with the extension fibers. Pop on another sealing coat of mascara and your false falsies are on fire and ready to go! Instant eye glam in a flash.
This Smokey Eye Palette by NYX is something I take with me whenever I travel. It's the perfect nighttime palette. So easy to use and ultra blendable. With a smaller fluffy shading brush, take the matte black shade and light outline the corner of your eye. The shades are very pigmented, so be careful! Then, with a larger shading brush, blend the harsh line out and into the crease slightly. And you. Are. Done. Incredible, right? The easiest part of your day, most likely.
I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this bronzer before on my blog, but if I haven't, Nars Laguna bronzer is a favorite bronzer of mine. I've gone through a few pans. There is no lie. Taking a day look to night for me anyway, is super dependent on my bronzer. I tend to bronze my skin in general but when I don't, a night look isn't complete without some contouring. So, with an angled foundation brush for a really precise line, gather some of the product, make a fish face to find the hollow of your cheek, and paint a line in the hollow. Then, with a fluffy powder brush go ahead and blend that line out. Looking fabulous and just about ready!
If you guys follow me on Instagram you know I've been loving a bold lip. What better time than nighttime to experiment with a thrilling red lip! Revlon makes a great lip product. It goes toe to toe with my MACs, Toms Fords, and Charlotte Tilburys. And it's only $6. Can't go wrong. Pop on this gorgeous matte shade, Really Red, and take it out for a night on the town. This classic red makes anyone look ready to party, but in a very classy way. Promise.
Another new piece from my giant makeup haul! I've been reaching for this one so frequently. It's gorgeous. The L'Oreal Super Slim liner in black is a great way to add some nighttime drama! Make your existing line a little more defined and darker, then, add a light, classy wing to the tip just to make your eyes more almond shaped and gorgeous. So simple, so chic.
I added the diamond studs because whenever I'm in a rush to get ready for a night out, I have to put on earrings! During the day I'll wear small diamond studs, hoops, drop-downs, or pearls. But for a night out, my larger diamond studs are a must! Pop on your favorite earrings that make you feel fabulous. All in all, this look should take you 10-15 minutes and you will look like a queen of the night, babe!
Have fun!
