My Everyday Skincare Routine

It seems like we're on a roll, huh? Two skincare posts in a row! I asked you guys on Twitter and Tumblr what you'd be interested in seeing, and this won the list, so here we go! Like I've said before, if you guys have requests or things you'd like to see, always let me know and I'd probably be super into it. I know that a lot of you guys have skincare questions for me. Even before I started this blog, I got pretty frequent questions regarding my skin on my Tumblr. I like to think that I have nice skin. I love to take care of it and it's in a place recently that I can say looks really healthy and fresh. So I'm pretty proud of it!
My mother has always told me to take really good care of my skin, and for good reason! She's got gorgeous skin. She's turning 50 in September and people are routinely shocked when she tells them her age. If she tells them she'd got a 19 year old daughter, they almost faint. I also have to keep my skin looking it's best because of my work. As an actor, how I look is always under scrutiny and is a really important part of my job. It's a canvas for photographers and set makeup artists to paint on, so it's always got to be in tip top shape. Therefore, texture, glow, and redness control are really important things to me in my skincare routine.
My main issues are dryness, redness, oily skin, and minor breakouts. And when I say minor, I really mean minor. Before I started taking care of my skin, my dryness would make me itchy. I would itch at my skin and all the touching would cause me to break out around my forehead. Thankfully, all that's in the past now! One day I'll write a post about how I took my skin from 0 to 10. Right now, we're gonna talk about what I do everyday to maintain my skin.
Let's get started!

You all know that a day rarely goes by  when I don't wear makeup. To remove it, I try not to add more chemicals to my skin than what I'm taking off, so I don't use makeup remover wipes, or waters, or solutions. My skin tends to react badly to those, anyway; my redness would kick into high gear. So, as my first skincare step, I've started to use all natural, Nature's Bounty Organic Coconut Oil. The same way mineral oil (which is in A LOT of makeup removers and only clogs your pores) is an emollient that removes hard to get makeup, so is coconut oil! It's jut a whole lot better for you and is way less processed. Why not be kind to you skin while you're removing your makeup? Great step for dry skin, too!

After my makeup is totally gone, I remove the excess oil from my skin and get the day out of my pores with the Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser. This stuff is awesome. I mentioned in it my last post all about charcoal skin products, and this is the product I currently use. It feels so cold on my skin and nothing makes my skin feel cleaner. It even tingles. It tightens up my skin just the right amount without making it feel too dry. There is not a trace of dirt left on my skin after I use it. It also does a real number on my redness, which is my favorite thing about it. If you're a person with drier skin I would make sure that you exfoliate before using, or the dry patches will get worse. Otherwise, it's a winner.

After my skin is dirt free, I like to make sure all the excess oil stuck in my pores is totally gone. I use the Boots Botanics Hot Cloth Cleansing Balm. It's a 97% natural blend of essential oils and herbal essences. It smells incredible and does wonders for my dryness. It also moisturizes my skin while it's removing all the oil and problematic things from deep withing my pores. The way it does that is in how you remove it! Now, I lost the muslin cloth it comes with, but I simply use a paper towel soaked in water as hot as I can stand it. Then, with the hot towel, you compress your skin. I've actually seen blackheads gets removed with this stuff. It's bananas.

Last but certainly not least, is the most important of all the steps. You're on my blog because you like skincare, and beauty, and fashion, and style. So, I'm assuming you've heard this before. If not, let me break it down for you. The number one, most important, do or die thing you need to do for you skin is moisturize it! Never too much, slather it on, let it sink in. My current favorite is the Body Shop's Vitamin E Moisture Cream. There is a nighttime version of this that I used once but I noticed that it left my skin too oily. This, the day version, is much better for me. Vitamin E will keep your skin younger much longer. My skin just glows, the texture is totally evened out, and it keeps my skin calm. I've been through three jars.

Go ahead and try these out! But don't be afraid to experiment with some products you think will be better for your skin. What skincare products have you tried and totally loved? Have you tried any of these? Let me know! Keep your eyes peeled for my next post! Thanks, guys!
