Finding Your Perfect Nude by lamodemoderne
Let's talk about nudes, baby. From what we saw in January, Spring 2015 lips are all about extremes. It seems that the two it colors are red and...nude. I know. Who would've thought. Finding a red lip always seems to be a little easier than finding a great nude. Just about any red can work for anyone, even if you have to squint a bit. But a nude shade that's even one or two shades wrong can make you look really tired or like a cadaver. That can be problematic. A nude should make you look fresh! So let's solve that problem!
We're going to go through this in easy to follow steps. By the end of this, you'll find a great nude that's perfect for you!

But a nude shade that's even one or two shades wrong can make you look really tired or like a cadaver. That can be problematic. A nude should make you look fresh! So let's solve that problem!
We're going to go through this in easy to follow steps. By the end of this, you'll find a great nude that's perfect for you!
1. What's your undertone?
I'm sure you've heard of undertones before. It's the basic pigment tone of your skin. Undertones are usually grouped into pink/red, golden/yellow, or gray/purple undertones. For example, I am very yellow undertoned. An example of pink/red undertones is my favorite actor/celebrity of all time, Genevieve Padalecki. A great example of blue/green/gray undertones is Anne Hataway. Take a look!
If that doesn't give you enough of an idea, a simple way to go about it is the vein trick! Blue veins? You've got cooler undertone; think blue, green, gray. Green veins? You're in the warmer neighborhood; think yellow, pink, red undertones. A mix of green and blue veins? You're a neutral!
Now that you know your undertone, you've got somewhere to start.
2. What's the natural nude?
Think about the natural color of your lips; your "natural nude," if you will. If you've naturally got a lot of pigment in your lips, then go for something a shade lighter or the same shade. If you're natural nude is more blue tones, try something a little warmer to cancel it out. A little bit more natural pink? Then try something with a blue tone to it. Just think opposites and you'll always win.
3. Put it all together!
Now that you've factored in your undertone, skin tone, and natural nude, you're ready to start picking! Lighter skin tone with warm undertone? Go for a cool pink tone. Cool undertone? Try a pink-beige. Medium skin with a cool undertone? Try something rosy-beige. Warn undertone? Go for a cooler pink. Dark girls with a warm complexion look great with milky chocolate tones, and girls with cool complexions look amazing with darker browns.
If possible, always swatch before you buy! What's in the tube and what comes out can be two totally different things, always remember that. But, now that you're set up with the rules, you can go into the lipstick section with your head held high, ready to rock the best Spring lip trend that's perfect for you!
